Elitenetzwerk Bayern: Three new International Doctoral Programmes

18.12.2020

The Elitenetzwerk Bayern will be funding three new International Doctoral Programmes from 2021, and the University of Bayreuth is involved in one of them. The theme will be ""Business and Human Rights: Governance Challenges in a Complex World".

The host university is FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, with JMU Würzburg and the University of Bayreuth participating. Bayreuth is represented by Prof. Dr. Eva Julia Lohse, holder of the Chair of Public Law III, and Prof. Dr. Thoko Kaime, holder of the Chair of African Legal Studies and member of the Cluster of Excellence- Africa Multiple.

The focus of the research group is to explore the human rights perspective in areas of society that, at first glance, are often driven more by economic, financial or social interests. With the increasing global networking of economic and legal relations, it is also becoming increasingly important to have solid jurisprudential findings on which to base political endeavours. At the University of Bayreuth, an emphasis is to be placed on "Human Rights and Sustainable Development".
